Andrew J. Anderson represents clients in complex divorces, contested custody matters, international divorces, criminal cases, and other high-stakes litigation. Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Andrew brings disciplined preparation, direct advice, and extensive courtroom experience to matters affecting his clients' children, property, businesses, freedom, and financial futures.
Andrew does not believe that effective representation requires unnecessary conflict. He identifies the client's objectives, develops a practical strategy, and works toward the best available result through negotiation, mediation, or trial. When litigation is necessary, he is prepared to pursue it decisively.
"Andrew Anderson, I do not know what I can say other than THANK YOU! You have been a life changer for me. I cannot thank you enough for all the hard work you and your team have done on my behalf. You are a class act, and I will never forget you and your team."

A Clear Plan During an Uncertain Time
Legal disputes can consume a client's attention and create substantial uncertainty. Andrew's role is to bring structure and control to that process.
His approach has three parts:
- Define the objective. Andrew identifies the client's priorities, the material facts, and the legal issues that will drive the case.
- Develop the strategy. He evaluates the available options, anticipates likely obstacles, and builds a plan around the client's goals.
- Execute with discipline. Andrew pursues resolution where appropriate and prepares for court from the beginning when litigation may be necessary.
Clients receive direct answers, candid assessments, and a clear understanding of their options. Andrew does not promise outcomes. He promises preparation, communication, and focused advocacy.
Experience and Professional Recognition
Andrew was licensed to practice law in Texas in 2000. After practicing with respected Dallas-Fort Worth law firms, he founded Anderson Legal Group, P.C. in 2005.
In 2007, Andrew became Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Board Certification requires substantial experience in the specialty, favorable evaluations from attorneys and judges, completion of demanding continuing legal education requirements, and passage of a comprehensive examination. Andrew has maintained his certification through each required recertification period.
Andrew is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and all Texas state courts.
He has handled hearings and trials throughout North Texas, including matters in Tarrant, Dallas, Denton, Parker, Johnson, Somerville, Hood, and Erath Counties. He has also written and presented continuing legal education programs for other attorneys.
Andrew has received an AV Preeminent peer-review rating from Martindale-Hubbell for legal ability and professional ethics. He has also been selected for inclusion in Texas Super Lawyers each year since 2011 and is a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas.
Complex Divorce and Property Cases
A substantial part of Andrew's practice involves divorces with significant or complicated marital estates. These cases may include:
- Privately owned businesses
- Professional practices
- Family limited partnerships
- Real estate holdings
- Trust and inheritance issues
- Executive compensation and retirement benefits
- Overseas property
- Complex debt and tracing issues
- Allegations of fraud, waste, or hidden assets
Andrew works with financial professionals and other experts when necessary to identify, value, characterize, and divide marital property. His objective is to protect the client's financial position while developing a resolution that can be implemented and enforced.
International and Expat Divorce
Andrew has lived in Scotland, Dubai, and Norway and understands the practical challenges faced by expatriates and internationally connected families. That personal experience gives him a valuable perspective when representing clients whose marriages, children, property, employment, or financial interests cross national borders.
Andrew represents clients in Texas divorces involving:
- Expatriates living in Texas or abroad
- Foreign spouses
- Overseas real estate and financial accounts
- International employment and retirement benefits
- Property located in multiple countries
- Jurisdictional disputes
- International service of legal documents
- Evidence and witnesses located outside the United States
- International relocation and custody concerns
- Enforcement issues involving foreign orders or agreements
International divorce cases require early identification of jurisdictional, financial, and practical complications. Andrew develops a coordinated strategy to protect the client's children, property, and financial interests while addressing the interaction between Texas law and foreign legal systems.
Contested Custody Litigation
Andrew represents parents in contested cases involving conservatorship, possession, child support, health insurance, and geographic residence restrictions. These cases may involve family violence, substance abuse, mental-health concerns, parental alienation, relocation, or disputes concerning a child's educational and medical needs.
Every custody case turns on its specific facts and the child's best interests. Andrew develops an evidence-based strategy to protect the client, preserve the parent-child relationship, and present the court with a clear, credible case.
Criminal Defense
Andrew also represents clients facing serious criminal allegations in Texas state and federal courts. His criminal practice includes matters involving:
- Family violence and assault
- Protective-order allegations
- Driving while intoxicated
- Drug possession
- Firearms and weapons
- Sexual offenses
- Abduction
- Misdemeanor and felony charges
- Federal criminal investigations and prosecutions
- Expunctions and record-clearing matters
Criminal allegations frequently overlap with divorce, custody, and protective-order litigation. Statements, evidence, and strategic decisions made in one proceeding can materially affect the other. Andrew's experience in both family law and criminal defense allows him to evaluate those consequences and develop a coordinated litigation strategy.
Every criminal charge carries serious consequences. Andrew provides a direct assessment of the allegations, examines the available evidence, identifies potential defenses, and prepares each case with the expectation that it may proceed to court.
Wills and Estate Planning
Anderson Legal Group assists clients with wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and other estate-planning documents. Effective estate planning allows clients to control how their property will be managed, protect their families, and reduce uncertainty during incapacity or after death.
Estate plans should also be reviewed following a divorce, remarriage, birth, death, significant acquisition, or other major life event. The firm's attorneys help clients evaluate existing documents and create plans that reflect their current families, assets, and objectives.
Leadership at Anderson Legal Group
Andrew leads a team of Board Certified Family Law attorneys and experienced legal professionals. The firm is built around preparation, accountability, and direct client service.
Every case receives a strategy tailored to the client's circumstances. Clients are kept informed, difficult issues are addressed directly, and the legal team remains focused on the objectives established at the beginning of the representation.
